5/22/2023 0 Comments Malice series john gwynne![]() ![]() Introduction made, I really enjoyed Malice. ![]() I was reluctant to pick up new books due to a run of bad luck in my choices. I had recently realized that my library was lacking in diversity (aka, a lot of Brandon Sanderson and little else). I stumbled upon the Faithful and the Fallen series while pursuing Good Reads for something new. Malice is a dark epic fantasy tale of blind greed, ambition, and betrayal. ![]() For if the Black Sun gains ascendancy, mankind's hopes and dreams will fall to dust. Those who can still read the signs see a threat far greater than the ancient wars. The Banished Lands has a violent past where armies of men and giants clashed in battle, but now giants are seen, the stones weep blood, and giant wyrms are stirring. Nor does he agree with his father's idea to summon his fellow kings to council. Many of them don't involve his father, the High King Aquilus. He is one of the most skilled swordsman to come out of his homeland, yet he is always under the shadow of his older brother. Veradis is the newest member of the warband for the High Prince, Nathair. Speaking of meandering, I think you get the point about my lamely joking about someone who actually voyages during the dawn, but hey, at least give me some credit for trying to come up with a play on the title that isn't "The Voyage of the Yawn Treader" once again, because someone here has to be original, and it's sure not this film. ![]() Quite frankly, I think the excitement level of this film is enough to distinguish it from high fantasy "epics" like "The Lord of the Rings", for even the title's underwhelming, because, really, just how extensive of a voyage can this be if it's being led by someone who only treads around dawn? Dawn usually lasts around half an hour or so, so it figures that this "Chronicles of Narnia" installment actually runs under two hours and still be way too long. like "Shrek Forever After", or because they had to kick Adamson to the curb due to people's drawing enough comparisons between this series and the "Lord of the Rings" series with a Kiwi filmmaker being taken out of account.
